Multiple award winner, Sarkodie has indicated that he’s now gone
international and therefore he doesn’t need Ghana Online writers. The
rapper made this comment in a private conversation with a friend in one
of accra’s pubs.
Sarkodie who was not too happy with the ban placed on him by the
Ghana Online Writers Association indicated that he now rolls with the
big international media and so he isn’t too bothered by the ban.
According to him, the Ghanaian media didn’t really understand his “Free Press”
track and most of them took it out of context and that’s why they
reacted like that. But if they want to ban him over it, he wont worry
his head since other bigger platforms are after him and that’s where he
plays now.
He stated that he just did another interview with the BBC and there
are a couple more in the pipeline so who needs Ghana Online writers??
“Chale man go high o, we now doing more international stuff, I
just did another interview with the BBC. Masa afta BBC kraaaa, what
else? hahahahaha.”
Sarkodie however indicated that he respects the media because no
matter what, they contribute in projecting artistes and he will never
disrespect them.
Sarkodie has come under attack by Ghanaian media personnel especially
online writers and bloggers over certain aspects of his Free Press song
which was targeted at them. According to them, Sarkodie is being
ungrateful since they contributed in getting him where he is at the
moment.
This has lead to a ban imposed on his head by the Ghana Online
Writers Association. The group has indicated that they are not going to
publish anything about Sarkodie again till further notice.
It must be noted that Sarkodie has had series of interviews on
international platforms especially the BBC and it doesn’t seem like this
ban will have any effect on him as he rightly said.
Lets wait and see how this war develops…
